At Namahana School, haumana (students) are mentored through their Personalized Learning Plans (PLP) both on-campus and off-campus in ʻĀina Ulu (field study) experiences in the community. They give maximum effort with a hiki nō (can do) attitude and are proactive in their interest-led academic and personal journey. Students will be with the same classmates and teacher for 2-3 years which we call an ʻOhana (advisory).
At Namahana School, we do not just enroll students, we enroll the entire ʻohana.
Makua (parents/caregivers) are engaged members of their childʻs learning plan. Parents/caregivers are in regular communication with kumu (teachers/advisors) and school staff, participating in their child’s quarterly learning plan meetings, and attending their child’s hōʻike (exhibitions of learning). They are members of the school community and lend their support to make the most of all students' experiences at Namahana School.

2025 Student Enrollment Timeline:
January 25 - March 25: Open Enrollment Period
February 1: Registration opens for optional ʻOhana Open House . Register here!
February 23: ʻOhana Open House, 9AM - 12PM: See if Namahana is a good fit for your child and you!
April 3: Public Lottery (if necessary)
April 4: Offer Letters sent via email. These letters will include notice of admission or your position on the waitlist, if a lottery occurs.
April 12: Signing Day (first all school gathering to sign offer letters and submit required documentation) and Acceptance Deadline. More details to be shared later.
